THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Gruet Steakhouse Restaurant Review

: Gruet Winery’s Laurent Gruet and Farid Himeur have been making French-style sparkling wine, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in New Mexico since the late 1980s. Their eponymous Nob Hill steakhouse likewise gives red-blooded American cuisine an elegant French twist----and Albuquerque one of its top destinations. Housed in the historic 1930s Monte Vista Fire Station, its warm, comfortable interior is worthy of the steakhouse label, as is the food: the bone-in rib-eye is first-rate, but meets its match in the crackling pork shank with melted leeks and a spiced apple sauce. Pair either with the lobster whipped potatoes; for dessert, the triple-chocolate ice cream torte is delightful. And don't forget the wine, bien sûr! The proprietary offerings are extensively supplemented by bottles from the world over, especially France and the West Coast. (But you’ll have to head just upstairs to the Monte Vista Fire Station bar for a nightcap.)
