The Half Shell Restaurant Restaurant Review: This tropical-themed East Memphis seafood restaurant offers dishes that are all over the map. There are oysters on the half-shell, as the name implies. But there are also voodoo-spiced steak and seafood, Southern-style fried catfish, Hawaiian coconut shrimp, Tex-Mex-style cheese dip, and Asian-inspired shrimp egg rolls. Hungry patrons get their fill on “The Fat Boy,” a seasoned po’ boy piled high with blackened shrimp, fried crawfish tails and crispy oysters. For those who’d prefer turf over surf, there’s always a New York strip steak or chicken Marsala. Desserts include an Oreo pie with meringue and whipped cream and a brownie sundae à la mode. Typical mainstream wine selections are available at reasonable prices. Weekend brunch features all the usual breakfast dishes plus New Orleans favorites. The bar stays open every night until 3 a.m. for those who cannot get enough of the place.
