THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hal's Restaurant Review:
Returning to the scene of his late 1990s restaurant, New Orleans native Hal Nowak has established a much larger enterprise than his Buckhead operation, as this restaurant also has banquet facilities. But for intimate dining, the best seats are in front of the see-through fireplace, where patrons can hear the piano as they dine. Many folks are in love with the creamy lobster bisque, but we find it a bit heavy in tarragon. For opening gambits, we prefer the seared rare tuna or the excellent cornmeal-crusted oysters. Grilled veal or lamb chops, or just about any steak you can name, are the dishes to target, but theres plenty of fish, too. Soft-shell crabs, when in season, are a must. And speaking of plenty, you wont go home hungry. Might as well ask for a doggie bag when you walk in. Besides, youll want to save room for one of the decadent desserts. We are talking Nawlins, after all. The wine list is a work in progress, but still has some excellent values. We found the Edmeades Pinot Noir a good choice for a table of diverse orders.
