Hanna's Gourmet Diner Restaurant Review: Owners Sia and Nicole Hemmati added Hanna's to the name of this North Miami Beach restaurant (since 1983) when they bought it in the late 1990s, and romanticized the place's décor a bit. But otherwise this is the same retro-style, stainless steel diner, with the same trademark mix of rustic French and American classics on the chalkboard. Boeuf bourguignon or a cheeseburger? A tuna melt or garlicky escargots? An iceberg wedge with tomatoes or celery rémoulade? If you hadn't guessed, the French dishes trump the American ones. Additionally, it's wiser in most cases to focus on the lengthy list of daily specials rather than the regular menu. For dessert, the custard fruit tart, topped with vine-ripe strawberries and bright kiwis, is legendary. Plenty of moderately priced French wines to go with the solid country cooking. |
