Located in downtown Paso Robles, this stylish spot offers casual comfort with cocktails, a wood-fired rotisserie, and an inventive menu sprinkled with hints of Southern influence. Starters range from a roasted beet salad with local goat cheese to “Hatch puppies” with house-made rémoulade, and a Caesar salad with crispy croutons so light they belie the fact that they’re made with chicken fat. Standout entrées are the Hatch burger with white cheddar, and the rib-eye with pimento cheese, especially when paired with a side of the unctuous butter beans. For dessert, go for the caramely Hooch cake with butter pecan ice cream. The best wine and beer bets are those on tap, but the craft cocktails such as the Smoking Pistol with mezcal are hard to pass up.
