Hearth Pizza Tavern Restaurant Review: This neighborhood joint buzzes with children and families enjoying the pizzas that emerge from a large wood-burning oven with crisp, chewy crusts topped with quality ingredients. Start by sharing an order of fried calamari, tender bites accompanied by a light but intensely flavored house-made tomato sauce and a lemon-coriander aïoli. Among the pies, we like the Great White Clam with its roasted cremini mushrooms and house-made fennel sausage. Lots of garlic, too. But that helps it go well with the DaVinci Chianti from the fairly basic wine list. For dessert, go for the house-made donut "holes" paired with a generous serving of caffeine and cacao ice cream from local purveyor High Road. Besides the pizze, check out the panini, burgers and flatbreads. Enjoy happy hour half-price pizza Mon.-Fri. from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., dine-in only. Other specials vary nightly.
