Heirloom Restaurant Review:

Inside New Haven's see-and-be-seen hotel, The Study at Yale, this contemporary dining room's soft, earthy palette creates a harmonious vibe. Blackboards tout the local farms from which much of the products are sourced, as well as the day's raw bar selections. The menu features healthful starters like delicate raw vegetable crudités with beet hummus and chili-sesame and cashew-ranch dipping sauces, and a fresh and fruity strawberry caprese with wild arugula, burrata and saba cheeses, as well as pistachio and sea salt. A tender roast Bobo Farms chicken with grilled farm scallions, leeks and lemon over farm greens and salsa verde, and a New Haven white clam risotto with burrata, garlic, lemon and herbs are two highlights among the well-executed entrées. A wine list concentrating on sustainable, organic and biodynamic labels from the Old and New Worlds complements the menu. Seasonal fruits find their way into desserts, like pear cobbler.
