Hillstone Restaurant Review: Unless you go early or late, expect a considerable wait for a table---but you won’t mind the wait on a nice evening. Grab a drink from the bar, slide into one of the Adirondack chairs outside on the wraparound patio, and enjoy the breeze off Lake Killarney. Hillstone’s bar is packed by 6 p.m., though not everyone there is waiting for a coveted table. Once you get a seat, the attentive waitstaff snaps into action, and the food is delivered pronto. Portions are generous, so we usually skip the appetizers, unless the seasonal grilled artichokes are on the menu. They are a must. As for entrées, we like the wild mushroom soup when available, and the veggie burger is surprisingly tasty, served with a batch of crisp, skinny fries. Salads are equally appealing, as are bigger entrées like steaks and chops. Kids (and many adults) ask for the tempura-battered chicken fingers, which aren’t on the menu, but are light and crispy. Linger over a cappuccino and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with warm chocolate sauce, but not too long---the next wave of diners is patiently waiting for your table.
