The Hobbit Restaurant Review:
The Hobbit, which has been running pretty much the same since 1972, is one of a handful of Orange County restaurants that combines elegance, tradition and flat-out comfort. Located in what was once a three-story house next to office buildings and strip malls, it is the second home of proprietors Michael and Debra Philippi. An evening here begins in the wine cellar, where appetizers are sampled around a rustic wood table and guests choose hand-picked bottles of wine. Diners are then shown to their tables to enjoy the featured main dish. In the midst of the feast, your hosts invite you to stroll the patio, tour the wine cellar, meet the chef in the kitchen or explore other areas of the restaurant. Everyone gets the VIP treatment --- the primary reason this restaurant is so beloved. The venue’s take on classic continental cuisine is another. The menu is always set in advance.
