Honey Pig Restaurant Review: Honey Pig in Duluth is a unit of a spiffy chain of restaurants that specialize in pork belly cooked on the tabletop Korean-style. The bright, modern interior emphasizes industrial elements as part of its décor. Go with at least one companion, as you won't be able to cook at the table if you go solo; instead, your food will be prepared in the kitchen. First, decide what to order---we suggest the pork belly, but you can also opt for seafood and beef, including beef intestines for the adventurous---and then a cold tofu-studded kimchi soup arrives (you may want to take a quart home for future enjoyment). A pile of sprouts lands firmly on the center-of-table grill. You also will get a tripartite bowl for sauces and embellishments. Take some of everything and wrap it in one of the cellophane noodle squares you're provided and enjoy. Beer is the best libation with this food, although there is wine, saké and tea as well. But a good, cold Korean suds nails it. The music is a lively Korean rock beat, but it's not so loud you can't communicate at your table. |
