Hottie Hawg's Smokin' BBQ Restaurant Review: Blending ’cue and sports bar action, Hottie Hawg’s is a stalwart in the Atlanta barbecue firmament. We recommend the pulled pork and the ribs, although we’d like to see a bit more resistance to the bite on the ribs. Smoked chicken is an option, too. Other menu highlights include the savory “borracho” beans with their substantial hit of cumin, the vinegar-based coleslaw, deep-fried pickle spears to be dipped into a slightly heat-influenced ranch dressing, and the mustard-based hot sauce that has well-integrated flavors. Desserts are house-made, including donuts with strawberry jam topping and fried mint. The quaff of choice is a good brew, such as Athens, Ga.-based Terrapin Rye or Atlanta’s Red Brick “Laughing Skull.” |
