| Basic American fare brought up to date to reflect myriad international influences is served in a comfortable atmosphere that welcomes moms and wriggling children as warmly as business types out for a power lunch. The oven-cooked barbecued ribs are falling-off-the-bone tender, which won't please the barbecue purist, but plenty of folks like them. Start with the spinach dip, made in this case mostly with spinach and not with cream cheese. Soups are lovely, and vary according to the day of the week. Get there for the baked potato soup, which appears at different locations on different days and is one of Houston‘s longest-surviving signature dishes. First-rate salads show some Thai influences, and check out the chili on Saturdays. The burgers are quite good, too, especially the hickory burger. There is a lengthy wine list, but only a few choices hit the special category. Expect long waits at peak hours and plan accordingly. Service is usually steady. Other locations. |
