Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar Restaurant Review

: Settle into this steakhouse by ordering a well-made, icy martini, and then move on to a classic prawn cocktail or fresh oysters on the half shell and Hy's must-have signature cheese toast. Next, savor the triple-A Canadian beef that Hy’s prepares better than some of the finest Manhattan and Midwestern establishments specializing in the same tender subject. The steaks served at this white-linen, warm cherry wood-paneled establishment range in size from not-so-petite filet mignons and New York strips to we-couldn’t-possibly-finish-it Châteaubriands. Rack of lamb and buttermilk fried chicken are non-beef options, as are blackened ahi, crab, lobster and salmon, all generously portioned. The Caesar salad, prepared in the dining room, is a crisp, garlic lover’s delight that doesn’t skimp on shaved Parmesan and croutons. There's also a bargain (for Hy's) three-course menu for $45. Hy’s offers a variety of Pacific Northwest wines, but if you have the means, elevate your dining experience with a Napa Cabernet or pedigreed Bordeaux. For a sweet finale, consider the bananas Foster made tableside, or the Belgian chocolate cake.
