Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar Restaurant Review: Begin with an icy well-made martini before moving on to fresh oysters on the half shell. Then savor the triple-A Canadian beef that Hy’s prepares better than some of the finest Manhattan and Midwestern establishments specializing in the same tender subject. The steaks served at this white-linen, warm cherry wood-paneled establishment range in size from not-so-petite filet mignons and New York strips to we-couldn’t-possibly-finish-it Châteaubriands. Non-carnivore types will find that the kitchen also knows its way around seafood. Starters of blackened ahi and Dungeness crab cakes are similarly generous. The Caesar salad, prepared in the dining room, is a crisp, garlic lover’s delight that doesn’t skimp on shaved Parmesan and croutons. There's also a bargain (for Hy's) three-course menu for $45. Hy’s offers a notable variety of Pacific Northwest wines, but if you've got the means, elevate your dining experience with a pedigree Bordeaux. |
