| When Mary Canales, formerly the pastry chef at Chez Panisse, set out to open an ice cream shop on College Avenue in Berkeley, we all knew it was going to be something special. Now it’s hard to imagine a time before peanut butter ice cream sandwiches, persimmon ice cream and lime sherbet. Canales and crew also make elegant ice cream bombes and a host of delicious treats, like candied tangerine peel and toffee chocolate almonds. |
