The Iron Skillet, with its huge platters of pan-fried chicken and bowls of whipped potatoes, has been a tradition for generations of families since 1953. It's also a just attraction for newcomers to the city in search of family-style dinners. The setting---a colonial house perched on a hilltop overlooking a golf course---draws families for celebrations, rehearsal dinners, showers and prom nights. Others come simply for the setting, not to mention the gravy, corn, green beans and freshly baked biscuits with apple butter, all served in heaping fashion. The feast begins with soup or juice and a lettuce salad topped with addictive pickled beets. Sundaes with sinful toppings conclude meals, only furthering the fact that this is the kind of place where memories are made.
