THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Izzy's Olde Tyme New York Restaurant Review:
A reincarnation of the former Hofberg's Deli, this all-New York place draws a mainly ex-New York clientele, those who know enough to demand their pickles crisp and sour in a bowl on the table and their Reuben sandwiches on toasted rye with plenty of cheese and sauerkraut. The menu---both the eat-in and the take-out ones---are interchangeable, making the selection possibilities head-spiningly complex. If you come here regularly, you may feel okay about ordering the various salads, but if Izzy's is a sometime treat, you'll likely dive into its heartier fare such as the brisket, the made-there blintzes, and the unusual lemonade chicken. As befits any such meal, desserts should include a wedge of New York-style cheesecake or a cream cheese carrot cake. Breakfasts are just as lush, with every sort of diet no-no on hand, from buttermilk pancakes to fresh blintzes with sour cream. Just don't plan on dieting when you eat here.
