THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jeffrey's Restaurant Review:
A hop, skip and a jump from bustling Lincoln Road, Jeffreys is a welcome departure from the chaos and overabundance of Italian food and alfresco dining that can be associated with eating in this neighborhood. Its uncontrived menu of American favorites with a hint of Southern style, Jeffreys is a romantic escape faithfully frequented by cool and casually dressed couples and small groups. White lace tablecloths and for-sale art give the softly lit room a homespun feel, and an intimate bar at the entrance begs to be visited for a Kir royal starter or a port finale. Start with caramelized onion soup au gratin or golden sautéed conch fritters. Main-course crab cakes, astoundingly dense and meaty, are served with hot mustard. Chicken, beef or seafood pies all enjoy widespread fame and favor. The wine list is sparse and sadly uninteresting, but a usual visit to each table by the owner is intoxicatingly sweet. Save room for the homemade desserts, all served with a complimentary glass of port.
