Joe Aloha Lunch Wagon Restaurant Review: THIS RESTAURANT IS CHANGING LOCATIONS Most days --- when it’s not out on a catering job --- you'll find Joe Aloha's bright yellow truck parked in front of a storage warehouse with a giant smoker. Joe Aloha Catering is the only truck (and possibly dining establishment) in Honolulu that cooks its ribs entirely in a smoker. Each bite yields an ideal combination of smoked flavor and tender meat that pulls away from the bone. The plate comes with a side of barbecue sauce, but these ribs can stand on their own with just the flavors imparted by the smoker and dry rub. Unlike other places, which use sauce as the primary method of flavoring their meat, here the sauce is used to simply enhance the flavor of the ribs. As a bonus, Joe Aloha serves thicker cuts of meat than anyone else in town. |
