John Harvard's Brew House Restaurant Review: Located on Route 9, this old-fashioned pour-house caters to locals as well as those taking a break from a day of shopping at the nearby Natick Mall. Though the beers on tap range from generally good to first-rate (the Bad News brown ale is our favorite), the food has its ups and downs. Stick with traditional pub fare like ale-battered onion rings, mini meatloaf sliders or chicken nachos. Pizza crusts are made from the grain used in the brewing process; we suggest the Southwest pie, loaded with black bean purée, chipotle roasted chicken, corn, avocado, onions and peppers. For mains, stick with comfort food favorites like the chicken potpie, macaroni and cheese, or ale and mustard chicken. And save room for the butterscotch bread pudding served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. |
