: “Top Chef” contestant Tre Wilcox acts as culinary director at Julia Pearl, while chef Jermaine Brown helms the kitchen. The "Julia" section of the menu struts traditional Southern dishes, while the "Pearl" part offers more modern flavors --- and names that come from the mothers of the owner and his wife’s family. Menu items like the deviled eggs with crispy chicken skin or the balsamic-honey-glazed pork belly with sweet potatoes are good starters. For mains, try the signature Southern fried chicken or the cornmeal-crusted catfish. Sides range from collard greens and pan-fried cabbage to grits, but make sure to save room for the red velvet cake. From the bar, you can try the Southern drinks, a long list that includes an Old Fashioned. The 6,000-square-foot space features a two-sided fireplace that connects the bar to the dining room; big-screen TVs add to the vibe that exudes Southern charm.
