THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Katzenberg's Restaurant Review:
No doubt youve heard about the Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court. But have you discovered a flourishing, authentic kosher-style deli that had the chutzpah to open in the heart of that bastion of Yankee propriety, Greenwich? Calling itself more than just a deli, Katzenbergs has a full bakery department, offers daily dinner specials, and caters all its wares---kosher salamis, kosher special hotdogs, and trays of knish and blintz, or bowls of steaming chicken matzoh ball soup. Katzenbergs also serves such non-kosher dishes as cheddar bacon dogs, ham and Swiss sandwiches, linguini with white clam sauce, and smoked salmon quesadillas. However, the chopped chicken liver is to die for, the hot pastrami is lower East Side yummy, the beef tongue the talk of the town, and oh, those complimentary bowls of half-sour and sour pickles on every table. Does Greenwich love Katzenbergs? Look for a second one to open on the lower part of Greenwich Ave., opposite the new Richards, in time for Hanukkah, we mean Christmas.
