Ken's Artisan Pizza Restaurant Review: Owner and co-founder Ken Forkish brings his perfectionist nature to bear on pizza in this cheerful Central Eastside restaurant. A ceiling-high pile of wood is stacked and ready to fire up a pizza oven so hot that the pies, with their thin, crispy crusts, cook in just minutes. The rustic décor features a wood-beamed ceiling and tables and bar recycled from an historic roller coaster. Pizza toppings tend to the sparse and simple, and include soppressata, fennel sausage and onions, anchovy and olives. Balance your meal with a variety of vegetable sides. For dessert, try something hot from the oven, such as a rhubarb crisp (available seasonally), or dip a spoon into house-made gelato. And to drink, there is a selection of wines by the bottle and glass. Expect to wait for a table on weekend evenings, and sometimes during the week.
