 Ken's Artisan Pizza Restaurant Review: Owner and co-founder Ken Forkish brings his perfectionist nature to bear on pizza in this cheerful Central Eastside restaurant. The wood-fired oven is so blistering hot that the pies, with their thin crispy crusts, cook in just a couple of minutes. The rustic setting features a wood-beamed ceiling and furniture recycled from an historic roller coaster. All come together to create a convivial, neighborhood vibe as customers freely debate the relative merits of anchovy versus olive. Pizza toppings tend to the sparse and simple, but don't miss the cured meats or vegetables such as squash or radicchio. One of the seasonal salads or a roasted vegetable plate can serve as a side or a pizza alternative. For dessert, try something hot from the oven, such as a rhubarb crisp (available seasonally) or dip a spoon into house-made gelato. And to drink, there are wines from Italy, France and the Pacific Northwest. |
