THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Brioche Doree Restaurant Review: Hidden on a mid-beach side street, this neighborhood pâtisserie and boulangerie has been baking and serving French morsels for well over a decade. From the oven come breads and breakfast pastries, including flaky, buttery croissants (plain, almond or apricot). Also worthy: slightly sweet brioche, dreamy pain au chocolat, and consummate baguettes. Add imported preserves, whipped butter and coffee and you have a delightful breakfast. After an ownership change and renovation, the bakery's café component is now marginally more formal, with actual servers and a larger menu that sometimes oversteps itself. But simpler items like the fresh charcuterie sandwiches (both cold and hot---a vegetable-garnished Brie; a croque monsieur), salads with bread or croissant, and quiches make satisfying bistro lunches. Shopping for pastries? Arrive early. They sell out fast.
