 One of the most romantic restaurants in the city, La Fourchette appeals also for business dining thanks to its tempered noise level. A small bar at the entrance allows solo diners an opportunity to savor a meal and a glass of wine with the company of a friendly bartender. Owners and Tunisia natives Mounir Barhoumi and Salem Makhlouf tapped former Joël line cook Jeff Wall to be executive chef at their endeavor. All breads are baked in house. See what specials are on offer before choosing your dish, and hope one of them involves pork belly. Then proceed to the paella, a beautifully prepared assembly of seafood and rice that, while not traditional, elevates the dish in its taste and its presentation. For dessert, choose the Tunisian beignets with the house-made ice cream accompaniment. The wine list, drawn up by former Joël sommelier Perrine Prieur, assembles a fine line-up of good choices for this food. First-rate coffee provides a fine finale.
