La Lanterna Ristorante & Caffe Restaurant Review: Earth tones, wrought iron wall sconces and framed Italian posters almost come together to create a casually romantic setting. A spacious, breezy area for al fresco dining in the summer season adds to the element of romance. However, the restaurant’s most appealing aspect resides in its creative cuisine: standard Italian with unique twists and the addition of Swiss influences. On the Italian side, try the American-style bread stuffed with mozzarella with fresh thyme, roasted garlic and tomatoes, or the classic cold antipasto for two, a selection of grilled eggplant, grilled zucchini, farmhouse Gorgonzola, bocconcini, Parmigiano Reggiano, sliced prosciutto, Genoa salami, sopressata, fire-roasted peppers and extra virgin olive oil. The capesante alla torzilli combines delicately flavored seared sea scallops and mascarpone risotto with sautéed spinach. To fully appreciate the marriage of Northern with southern European flavors, try the vitello alla zurighese, strips of veal sautéed with shallots and mushrooms with white wine demi-glaze with a touch of cream, accompanied by Swiss-roasted potatoes.
