La Limena Restaurant Restaurant Review

: This Peruvian eatery confounds diners by adding in a few Cuban specialties, such as classic ropa vieja, the famed Cubano sandwich, and sides of Cuban-style black rice. But once you get past these oddities, you’ll find the expected dishes, from ceviche mixto and papa a la huancaina appetizers to chupe de camarones (creamy shrimp soup-stew) and Peruvian-style roast chicken. The latter is a winner for chicken lovers: the skin is crispy and well seasoned, and the flesh juicy and tender. If you stop in for a Sunday breakfast, you can pick up one of the country’s well-known hearty sandwiches or tamales, a great way to energize your day. We also recommend the fried pork meat sandwich. No meal is complete without an order of the purple corn beverage, chicha morada, and an alfajor or two, the shortbread cookies filled with dulce de leche.
