Owner Luciano Cola has been a fixture on the Dallas restaurant scene for more than 30 years. His La Paesana will satisfy your urge for old-school Italian-American with maybe even a few new-school items like risotto and carpaccio. Pizzas are very thin crust; pies such as the Siciliana may be rock hard on the bottom with a bit of moist dough below the mounds of sausage, onions and olives. Red sauces on dishes like lasagna and penne alla piriano (with Italian sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms) tend toward the slightly sweet. Still, the crumbling Tuscan villa-inspired décor is far more pleasant than other places with similar menus and red-checked tablecloths.
