L'Anima Restaurant Review: This smart restaurant is light and airy with natural materials and subdued colours. It’s unashamedly aimed at City high rollers or those with sophisticated tastes. Francesco Mazzei is an accomplished chef and here concentrates on his Calabrian upbringing and first culinary experiences. Menus change seasonally. In the spring, try fresh crab and English asparagus or fritto misto; pastas might be nettle stracci with veal ragoût and pistachios, while main courses tempt with the likes of rabbit done Sicilian style or wild sea bass with crisp potatoes and red onion purée. Given the high standards, the menu offers a good value meal. The wine list is naturally dominated by Italy and champions some of the best; there are also wines by the glass or carafe. Service is as smooth as the venue. Set 2-course menu £22.50, 3 courses £24.50. Set evening weekend menu 2 courses £29.50, 3 courses £35.
