Lanterna Tuscan Bistro Restaurant Review: This quaint Nyack restaurant looks to the Tuscan town of Lucca for its inspiration. Chef Rossano Giannini’s cooking showcases the flavors and ingredients of that region, evident in the al dente pastas: lasagna Toscana and the spaghettini con gamberi with garlic, fresh herbs, spicy red pepper and extra virgin olive oil. Panini and pizzas (consider the pollo caprese pie with grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil on ciabatta bread) are also regionally inspired. Fish dishes stand out among entrées --- try the Chilean sea bass topped with tomatoes, yellow peppers, onions, garlic and basil salsa, or the fresh cod sautéed in white wine and served with mussels, tomatoes and herbs atop broccoli rabe. The wine list featuring Italian varietals helps bring the taste of Tuscany to the table. |
