Larkburger Restaurant Review: Thomas Salamunovich, the Vail Valley chef who elevated his signature restaurant, Larkspur, to cult status, is back at it again, this time with a bona fide burger barn. It's an order-at-the-counter affair, and the menu is short and to the point---five burgers served on all-natural buns with the requisite accompaniments: in-season tomatoes, leafy lettuce, the joint's secret house-made sauce, and a litany of gourmet adornments, including Tillamook cheddar and truffle aïoli. The burgers are wrapped in wax paper and arrive à la carte, which means that the hand-cut truffle and Parmesan-dusted french fries are an extra indulgence. Bottled local microbrews and a decent wine roster round out the menu, although a meal here isn't complete without ordering a chocolate or vanilla shake. |
