Lavender Bistro Restaurant Review: A youthful but experienced management (co-owner Nicolas Despras is the son of Indian Wells' Le St. Germain owner Michel Despras) has created a lively, relaxed but elegant place where the food is simultaneously interesting and comforting. There's a little bit of bistro French, a little bit of fusion, a lot of Mediterranean, and it is above all Californian---Southern Californian. A tasty bar menu ensures a thriving happy hour. For serious eating, start with the daily special risotto or ravioli, or try one of the very good salads (beets with hazelnut dressing), then follow with a moist brined pork chop with pineapple and kumquat chutney or the miso-glazed salmon.
