The Honolulu location of this international chain is spacious with a modern feel, expansive windows, sleek black tables, wooden paneling and white lanterns hanging from an exposed beam ceiling. True to its name, hot pot dining is the featured specialty. A large picture menu will get you started, or choose a simmering broth --- original, spicy or a combination --- placed on a burner in the middle of your table. Then select among raw meats (beef, pork, chicken and lamb), seafood (fish and shellfish), vegetables and noodles to cook in the broth. When food is cooked to your liking, scoop it into a bowl or plate, and enjoy with various dipping sauces, like sesame, from the sauce bar. A lunch special ($12.95 Monday through Friday, $18.95 weekends) served with a sampler of seafood, vegetables and noodles is another easy option. A variety of cooked sides are available, including sesame pancakes, lamb dumplings and meat skewers. Flavored green teas are popular as beverages, but we recommend the freshly made and slightly slushy watermelon juice. Service is usually on point: if you are running low on broth, they will refill your cooking pot. However, be prepared for a bit of chaos when the restaurant is very busy, such as during the “Crazy Tuesday All-You-Can-Eat” special for $23.95.
