| Hidden in the hills above Truckee, it took a while for folks to find The Lodge when it first opened. But these days, it enjoys a cohort of regulars and seasonal customers. They’re drawn by basics such as sharp white cheddar and chèvre gratin mac ‘n’ cheese, calamari done well, seasonal farmers market salads, flat-iron steak and crispy roasted duck breast. Unlike so many Cal-centric Tahoe menus, The Lodge’s wine list acknowledges Spain, Italy and other countries. Look for Bordeaux and Barbera nicely priced at less than $50. |
