| The Lodge lies in the hills above Truckee, so it took a while for folks to find it after it opened. But these days, it enjoys a cohort of regulars and seasonal customers. They’re drawn by basics like goat cheese tart and calamari done well, by seasonal farmers’ market salads, and by flat-iron steak and apple-smoked bacon dressing. Several entrées come in under $20---often tough to find in Tahoe. Unlike so many Cal-centric Tahoe lists, The Lodge’s wine list acknowledges that Spain, South America, Italy and France make wine. Look for Bordeaux and Barbera nicely priced at less than $50. |
