Louisiana Bistreaux Restaurant Review:

This simple restaurant doesn't bother with much décor, although its cleanly designed interior and lighting make it appealing. The sound system regales with pulsating Cajun music. Classic Cajun cooking stars, from fried gator bites to a well-seasoned dark roux gumbo thick with seafood and andouille sausage. Portions are plenty for two to share. A crawfish combo was staggering in its size, offering a quite spicy crawfish etouffée and fried crawfish tails surrounding a bed of rice with the thick, rich etouffée atop the center. Eggplant Pontchartrain, named for the estuary near New Orleans, layers a deep-fried slice of eggplant with vegetables and sauce over rice. Lunch proposes smaller portions of dinner fare at lower prices and a lineup of po’ boys (go with the oyster version). Desserts fit the theme; try the rich praline cheesecake. We suggest enjoying a brew as the list includes some good local selections, such as “A Night on Ponce” IPA from Decatur’s Three Taverns Brewery.
