It feels quite in tune with the ruggedness of the nearby canyon, especially with a glass of wine in hand. The cuisine, whipped up by longtime Oysters executive chef Armando Ortega, fits the comfortable mood of the space, offering a solid selection of classic American dishes with enough flair to keep things interesting. Begin your meal with a generous serving of ahi poke or the trio of hummus dips. New England clam chowder is worth stopping in for if you find yourself in Laguna on a blustery day or a chilly evening. Entrées are as expected; items like the cedar-planked king salmon with soy-mustard glaze and the grilled flat-iron steak with chimichurri sauce are serviceable. For dessert, the Hog Heaven Pie made of chocolate ganache, peanut butter mousse and whipped cream tastes as decadent as it sounds.
