Macaroni Grill Restaurant Review: Macaroni Grill is perfect for a quick meal in a fun place. First, there's the honor-system wine. Your waiter will bring a bottle of jug wine to the table. You're asked to mark off your glasses with a crayon on the butcher paper tablecloth. About the food: There's the respectable calamari and crisp, well-torn salads drizzled with biting vinaigrette that come with many tasty entrées. Some of the pastas are a bit doughy, but only a spoilsport would complain about the delicately breaded veal or chicken. Simple fare is done well, such as salmon sautéed in lemon butter with capers, tomatoes and basil; or steamed mussels in a delicate saffron sauce. If you're in a hurry, order a wood-fired pizza and a beer. Whatever you order, you get crayons for coloring on the butcher paper, and this opportunity has helped us on a number of visits to get in touch with our inner child---or distract the child accompanying us.
