THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Maddy's A Rib & Blues Joint Restaurant Review

: Owner James Buckalew intersects the classic 'cue joint with live blues every night. The ribs are cooked initially in the oven then finished over wood, so the well-seasoned meat shows no smoke ring and tends to be over-charred. The tomato-based barbecue sauce seems more snappily acidic and seasoned than in the past. The place gets points for serving the barbecue sauce on the side so the patron may control how much to use. The tender, moist and not too smoky barbecued chicken is worthy, and sandwiches are piled at least an inch and a half deep in tangy pulled pork. Coleslaw is crunchy and fresh-tasting. Music varies in quality, but when it's blues, it's hot. The atmosphere, as a result, is quite loud at dinner.
