The Maharaja Restaurant Review:

The Maharaja evokes India with its carved tables and chairs, ornate lights and handmade pieces inspired by palaces in the cities of Jaipur and Jodhpur. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a bird’s eye view of the action in Harvard Square. The restaurant is the brainchild of three longtime friends from India, executive chef Rohit Talwar, Sajal Latka and Aman Thakur, the trio behind India Palace restaurants in Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire, and Chelmsford, Mass. Start with a samosa filled with cauliflower, paneer and cashews and move on to spicy lamb vindaloo or a cheesy chicken tikka masala. The house specialty, khatta dhuandar gosht, a flavorful combination of lamb and ground lamb, was smoked and cooked with pomegranate seeds and served in a piquant sauce. Desserts include the candy-like almond burfi squares. There is a daily buffet and lunch specials for under $14 that make The Maharaja well worth a visit.
