THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Marie LaVeau's Restaurant Review:
Marie LaVeau's first broke out in Charleston with its hip location and beignets, but is really to be valued for treats like duck confit club sandwiches, a spectacularly layered grilled cheese sandwich, and an ever-changing slate of soups. The Avondale district, just across the Ashley River from downtown, is a funky couple of blocks of good restaurants and cute shops. Marie LaVeau's makes a quick jaunt away from the tourist districts a worthwhile trip.
