Mark's Feed Store Restaurant Review

: The walls of the cinder block building housing the original Mark’s Feed Store location are decorated with colorful vintage tin signs advertising livestock feed. Decades ago, this was indeed a farm supply store. Humans are the happy eaters at Mark’s today, tucking into big sandwiches of tender, smoked pork, chicken and beef. Dress them with the restaurant’s just-spicy-enough mustard-based barbecue sauce. (Bottles are on all the tables.) Big racks of pork ribs are pre-sauced, but not overly so. Tender, tangy potato salad and pork-seasoned green beans are recommended sides. Beware: Fried onion straws have been shown to be addictive. Don’t miss Mark’s thick, savory burgoo, a Kentucky stew loaded with meats and vegetables. Soft serve ice cream and homemade buttermilk pie are perfect sweet endings. Planning a party? Virtually everything on the menu is available in bulk for take-out. Service is swift and friendly. Don’t be surprised to be addressed as “Hon.” Beer and wine are available, but no spirits.
