THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Max's Wine Dive Restaurant Review:

Max's Wine Dive brings to its presentation of wine a casual yet passionate approach to the subject. The wine list is extensive; the glassware is good quality; the prices are decent. On the walls, in addition to art, are enhanced photos of famous prisoners; Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison mug shot peers rather morosely down on the assembled diners. For a hot afternoon, a glass of Cinsault rosé seemed appropriate. Unfortunately, very little on the brunch menu goes with that wine, except a trio of biscuits with deep-fried chicken fingers. We opted out of the maple syrup that was supposed to slather them, and opted in for the red-eye gravy --- the crunchy-coated chicken was fine with the wine. The same chicken may be ordered as a full plate with collard greens and home fries, and it appears on a salad with Danish blue cheese and a Champagne vinaigrette. Peach spoonbread with local Honeysuckle rich vanilla gelato is a dessert winner. Prepare for an elevated noise level, making it difficult to converse with your server.
