Dining room at Maynards Market & Kitchen, Tucson, AZSet in the historic Southern Pacific train depot, this intimate dining spot offers the seasonal cooking of chef Addam Buzzalini. In summer, the menu may include a delectable vichyssoise, while the winter months bring on the bouillabaisse. Mussels, available four different ways, are always on the menu. The pomme frites, available as a side dish, pop with flavor, although our favorite side is the macaroni and cheese. And it’s hard to pass up the butternut squash gnocchi with a unique sauce of hazelnuts, brandied figs, brown butter and just enough Grana Padano. Other regular items include stone-baked pizzas with eclectic toppings such as short ribs or potatoes. While the wine list is well-rounded, the market part of the Maynard equation has a nice assortment of moderately priced wines by the bottle.
