Maynards Market & Kitchen Restaurant Review: At Maynards, you get a little romance, a bit of history and modern American food. Located in the historic Southern Pacific Railroad Station, this downtown favorite has changed its menu. The mussels remain available and there are still plenty of choices for carnivores, including pork schnitzel, the popular house burger and the savory hanger steak. But those with a lighter appetite or who just want something a little different can feast on eggplant risotto finished with pistachio pesto or bouillabaisse. During Sunday brunch, offerings range from a simple omelet or a fresh salad to the red velvet pancakes that come with bacon, house-made sausage, maple syrup and Nutella whipped cream. Desserts are limited to the daily chef’s creations and locally made Isabella’s ice cream. The wine list is dedicated to smaller boutique wineries. Bonus: You can always pop into the market next door for a tasty sandwich or a bowl of soup.
