The Melting Pot Restaurant Review: All kinds of fondue are served at this large yet intimate, upscale downtown restaurant. The premise involves table-top cook pots of melted cheese blends, like Fontina and Butterkäse cheeses; spinach, artichoke hearts and garlic for dipping your bread squares; and your choice of three aromatic broths in which to cook skewers of meats, shrimp and vegetables. The entrées don't compare to the decadent, sweet melted dessert mixtures like the Flaming Turtle---milk chocolate, caramel and chopped pecans---to coat fruit, brownie bites, marshmallows and cheesecake. Don't plan to do much after dinner; the meal is the focus of your evening when dining here. Set aside nearly three hours and an empty stomach. And be forewarned: All of those little bites can add up to a big bill. |
