El Gato Negro Restaurant Review:

If it’s a top-of-the-line margarita you crave, El Gato Negro (The Black Cat) is your place. Where else would you find margaritas made with carrot juice, or satsumas or even pineapple with cilantro? These along with mojitos serve as a prelude to traditional tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, enchiladas, tamales and burritos. The adventurous will take the spicy leap to lollipop-style lamb chops with agave/chipotle or the grilled chicken with real mole sauce made with chocolate, cinnamon and pecan. This may be the only place in town where you may order lobster claw meat in your fajitas and fresh poblano peppers stuffed with Louisiana crawfish. For dessert, look no further than the tres leches cake. Despite the predominance of margaritas, there is a short and respectable wine list. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are offered. Take your time with a meal and then walk right across the street to the open-air flea market. Also located at 300 Harrison Ave., 504-488-0107.
