Gusto Restaurant Review:

Gusto is owned by and adjacent to Locanda Positano, and situated in the space that formerly housed Limone. Founding chef is George Morrone who made headlines in the 00's for his California cuisine at Aqua, Fifth Floor and others, and who brings updated versions of some of those same dishes here, including his signature "timeless" tuna tartare with pine nuts, Asian pear, chilies and sesame oil. Dishes favor the seasonal and lightly creative: duck "cassoulet" ravioli; cream of portobello mushroom soup, rich with cream and topped with a piece of fried sage. Our favorites are the Gusto seasonal salad, updated with three types of citrus, and the beef tenderloin with Barolo butter. The menu is compact, with three deserts and a reasonably extensive wine list that leverages Locanda Positano's Italian offerings and many California selections. Expect a leisurely pace, optimal for a romantic evening, but not for expediency.
