Northlake Thai Cuisine Restaurant Review:

Now busy with their restaurant Herban Fix Vegan Kitchen in Midtown, Donald Mui and Wendy Chang have left Northlake Thai to the care of her sister, Wen Ling, who always was involved. The quiet atmosphere and pleasingly designed interior draw business patrons who value being able to hear table conversation. We like the chicken and shrimp ravioli in a curry aïoli, the crystal shrimp dumplings with soy dipping sauce and the seafood "bisque." Although not at all creamy, it fills a flavorful broth with large shrimp, pieces of squid and Thai basil. To keep it (and the tea pot) warm, each is set over a small flame. Main courses offer Asian twists on classics, such as roasted duck with mango, but you’ll find some Asian element in any dish, even the filet mignon. Sea bass and sea scallops are other treats. Familiar Thai fare includes massaman or panang curry or pad thai. We skip desserts, though, as they consist of ordinary layer cake type offerings. The somewhat improved wine list still needs work, so we suggest you bring your own for a $15 corkage fee, and carry your own glasses, too.
