Peaks Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Sometimes half the fun of dining out is getting to your destination. This especially holds true if you’re headed to Peaks Restaurant, located 8,500 feet above the desert floor and accessible via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The views are unrivaled, leaving you feeling as if you’re suspended from the top of the world. The lunch and dinner menus share the same selection of starters, such as the hummus sampler with pita, as well as soups and salads. Entrées are as different as day and night. Lunch consists of sandwiches, burgers and pasta, while dinner offers a bit more substance. The 14-ounce New York steak is a nice cut of beef prepared medium rare. Macadamia-crusted salmon comes with creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal baby vegetables. Vegetarians will likely gravitate to the only meatless dish, the ricotta and beet fettuccine, which can be dressed up with grilled chicken or seafood. Shareable desserts include a Grand Marnier crème brûlée. Keep in mind that Peaks caters to a mostly tourist clientele, so the execution can be hit or miss. Aside from wine and beer, there’s a list of classic cocktails for calming your nerves as you prepare to descend down the mountain.
