Sprayberry's Barbecue Restaurant Review:

When the late Atlanta writer Lewis Grizzard extolled barbecue, he was talking about Sprayberry's. This is a popular spot for baby-back ribs despite the fact that the use of steam renders the meat a drab gray throughout and fairly flabby in texture. There is a quite good chopped-barbecue sandwich. Slaw is crispy and vinegar-dressed for a special tang. Brunswick stew is just fair. Pass up altogether the dry “barbecued” chicken breast. But don't miss the fast-disappearing fried pie, here made with real dried fruit cooked for hours with sugar until sweet and yielding. This family-owned operation has Newnan’s ear on barbecue, but we’ve seen declines over the years in ’cue quality. Also located at 1060 Georgia Rte. 34 E., Newnan, 770-253-5080.
