Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen Restaurant Review:

Leo Beckerman and Evan Bloom first offered their New York-style deli products at pop-up locations around San Francisco. Next came a Ferry Building Farmers Market stand, where they still show up on Tuesdays, and this modestly sized Mission District venue. The pastrami sandwich features rye bread with a paper thin, crackling-crisp crust combined with a townhouse-high stack of pastrami: meaty, delicately cured with just a hint of smoke. Corned beef, in a sandwich or otherwise, is slightly less compelling. As the stencil over the door says, "In America you can eat challah every day." To that we’d advise trying the challah french toast --- almost two inches thick, with a crusty edge armoring a custardy center. Maple syrup and orange compound butter are available embellishments. Deli fans will also appreciate the chopped liver, noodle kugel, smoked trout salad and matzo ball soup. Takeout and catering are available.
