Meze Wine Cafe & Market Restaurant Review: Meze is as much a gourmet market and wine bar as a neighborhood café --- it’s modeled after similar concepts in larger American cities and Europe. Nestled in a stylish space in the historic Railroad District, this is a place to relish a glass of wine paired with made-to-order small plates. The menu changes frequently according to the season and what the owners find at the market. Favorites have included peppers stuffed with Spanish salt cod, chicken with a chanterelle mushroom sauce, and a dish of Brussels sprouts leaves, bacon, almonds, dried cherries and manchego cheese. Don’t miss one of the “country boards” --- a spread of cheese, charcuterie and accompaniments --- usually highlighting France, Spain or Italy. The wine list includes some local selections, but is primarily made up of obscure international finds. |
